Boxed Bead Escape

Brass Disc Escape

The magician shows five disks enameled in five different colors, and a tube just large enough to hold the disks. The disks and both ends of the tube have a small hole in them, for a cord to be threaded through. A spectator freely selects any one disk. All the disks are placed in the tube, which is closed. A cord is threaded through the closed tube and the disks inside. Then a spectator is requested to hold the ends of the cord with the tube hanging in the center. When the magician opens the tube, only one disk falls out, the selected colored one! The other four disks and both halves of the tube remain securely threaded on the cord.

The effect may be repeated with a different color disk.

Introduction by Can Man:

I started carving Can Man in 1994. One day I looked at a can and wondered what could be sculpted out of it. I had seen airplanes molded from cans and thought the soda logos made a very colorful sculpture. However, I wanted to think outside of the box, or can in this case. My first attempt was to cut out a piece from the can that was already in the shape I wanted to see. However, the first attempt came out looking like a very awkward stick figure. In fact, people that saw it had to be told what they were looking at. As I thought about my first attempt, I realized I could cut out a stick figure, keep it attached to the can, and then mold the figure like a child's bendy figure toy. Eureka - Can Man was born.

Chain Thru with CD Explanation by Kreis Magic

A small chain, a nut, and bolt are given to a spectator. The nut and bolt have hole drilled through them for the chain to pass through. The spectator is asked to thread the bolt through the nut and then place the chain through the hole. The spectator is then asked to turn the bolt and thread it further through the nut. The chain won't allow it! The spectator can not make it turn. The magician then takes the chain, nut, and bolt back from the spectator and threads the bolt on thru!!

Chameleon Spot Fan

This is an off-beat Color Changing Fan effect.

Performer shows a fan with a single spot on top. The fan is opened, and all the blades on the fan have a single spot on top. Fan is closed, and the performer passes his hand over the top of the fan. There are now two spots on top of the fan. When the fan is opened, there are a row of two spots along the entire fan. Fan is again closed, passed through the performer's hand, and there are now three spots on top of the fan. Fan is opened, and there are a row of three spots along the entire fan. Finally fan is closed once again, hand passed over the fan, and there are four spots on top of the fan. And when the fan is opened, there are a row of four spots along the entire fan.

This is a nice visual effect, which can stand by itself, or be incorporated with other magic effects. Use it in conjunction with some other trick, like the Metamorpho Spots or Polka Dot Silk. Or use the fan as a running gag. It is used as a magic fan for every trick to make the magic happen. After a couple of tricks the magic does not work. So you change the number of spots to increase the magic power! A few tricks later you repeat this again. With a little imagination you will be able to work this cute effect into any type of magic act.

Clear Penetration

A pencil penetrates through a clear glass sheet. The performer displays a clear sheet in a plastic frame. After the frame is examined, two playing cards are placed over the middle of the clear sheet. A pencil is now pushed through the cards, apparently penetrating right through the middle of the plastic sheet. When the frame is now examined, the cards have holes through them, but the clear plastic sheet sandwiched by the cards is entirely intact. And the frame can be handed over for examination.
